PP Electrical Systems opened its doors again this week to provide a number of senior manufacturing professionals with a first hand insight into lean excellence.
The company, a seven-time winner of various Best Factory Awards including overall best factory in the UK, was chosen by Works Management magazine to host one of the best practice visit, which included meeting the production teams, viewing live processes and getting to grips with a 5S audit.
The delegates – from all over the UK and representing a cross section of industries – also learned about the firm’s continuous improvement plan for each employee and the difference that makes to productivity levels and manufacturing quality.
Ian Knight, Director of Operations at PP Electrical Systems, explained: “Our customers are world leaders in what they do and, as such, we know we have to be world class in the service and solutions we provide.
“This starts the minute someone rings us with a RFQ, right through the tendering stage and into pre-production and then fulfillment. We can only achieve this by investing in the best technology and, importantly, our people.”
He continued: “Every member of staff receives 200 hours per year of training and that involves technical development and softer skills, such as communication, teamwork and time management.”
“The Best Practice visits give us the chance to showcase this to other companies that are on the journey and that is something we relish.”
Ian Vallely, Editor of Works Management, commented: “PP Electrical Systems has become a company to emulate. It sets standards in quality and delivery beyond the reach of glitzier pretenders, turning ‘added value’ into tangible, living reality.”
