Corporate Social Responsibility

As a global leader in strategic outsourcing solutions to many of the most respected machine builders, PP Control & Automation understand that being a responsible business means a duty to giving back to the communities it touches and ensuring that practices are ethical and sustainable.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an integral part of the business strategy, and a commitment to making a positive impact drives every action. It is recognised that this commitment to CSR is not only the right thing to do, but also a source of competitive advantage that enables the business to attract and retain the best talent, build strong relationships with customers and partners, and create long-term value for shareholders.

CSR initiatives inline with the core values of the business include a sustainability pledge, a wellbeing champions programme, charity fundraising, an offering of voluntary services for local schools, and category-leading lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

Sustainability pledge

PP Control & Automation is committed to sustainability and reducing its environmental impact. It is the responsibility of the business to not only improve its own manufacturing processes, but also to help customers and partners reach their own sustainability targets.

To that end, PP C&A pledge to:

1

Reduce carbon footprint by implementing energy-efficient practices throughout the manufacturing process, including the use of renewable energy sources where possible.

2

Implement waste reduction and recycling programmes to minimise the amount of waste that is produced and maximise the amount that is recycled.

3

Work with suppliers to promote sustainable practices and encourage the use of environmentally friendly materials.

4

Provide customers with sustainable solutions and support their sustainability efforts through more sustainable manufacturing processes, automation capabilities and the benefits of strategic outsourcing.

5

Continuously monitor and evaluate sustainability performance to identify opportunities for improvement and adjust as necessary.

Wellbeing Champions

Implementing mental health resources, health and safety training, ergonomic assessments, and flexible working arrangements, among other initiatives has received more industry attention today than it ever has. By prioritising employee wellbeing, manufacturing companies can create a positive and supportive environment.

That’s the goal of HR People Partner, Malcolm Condon, and his band of ‘Wellbeing Champions’ promoting health and productivity at PP Control & Automation.

The Champions commitment is made up of 4 promises:

1

Help colleagues by simply being there to offer an ear or a hand, and where necessary, signpost them to additional support services.

2

Act as a powerful voice for all colleagues when they have concerns or suggestions that they want raising on their behalf.

3

Promote monthly events, including seminars and professional workshops to bring about companywide awareness in health and wellbeing topics.

4

Organise fundraising events in support of company sponsored charities and charities close to the hearts of our colleagues.

Engaging with education

To play a positive role in society, PP C&A has nurtured a culture that promotes employee volunteering, including working in collaboration with schools, colleges, and universities. The business actively supports education and the promotion of STEM subjects in the communities it operates in.

The opportunity to collaborate directly with schools is always welcomed and PP C&A offer several beneficial activities and programmes designed to encourage young people into engineering and help them develop their passion for STEM subjects. From ‘at school activities’ such as talks and workshops, or interview training to ‘on location’ apprenticeships, placements and highly commended events, the work PP C&A does within education is always well-received and completely free.
