PP Control & Automation hosted the WMG, University of Warwick Net Zero Innovation Network Cohort for its sustainable manufacturing programme launch meeting this month.
Laura Downey, Technology Transfer Engineer at WMG worked on the agenda for the day which included a tour of PP C&A’s award-winning facility.

PP C&A is joined by fellow Manufacturing Assembly Network members: Listertube, Grove Design, and Barkley Plastics. The cohort’s large OEM, offering best practice advice and guidance alongside WMG and its partner network is UTC Aerospace Systems.
With the official launch of the cohort, a series of stage-gate processes will unravel, starting with a ‘Net Zero Readiness Assessment’. In between the assessment and an innovation project supported by WMG, cohort members will take part in an energy survey and attend a series of collaborative events and best practice visits.
The Net Zero Readiness Assessment looks at levels of competence in several categories including building and services, organisation and culture, supply chain and logistics, manufacturing processes and materials.
The cohort will outline each business’ current position and offer a roadmap to implementing new processes, equipment or investments that will help continuously improve each cohort member’s pledge to sustainability.
Sustainability is an essential part of a responsible business practice, and PP C&A is committed to doing its part to protect the planet and support a sustainable future.
As a result of the sustainable manufacturing programme, PP Control & Automation has invested in specialist voltage optimisation equipment, which will lead to a reduction in carbon footprint of 3.74 tCO2e (Tonnes of CO2 equivalent).
The recent £150,000 solar panel investment is also having a positive impact on the business’ sustainability pledge, and to date has saved the equivalent of over 25 trees.
